We are a Horde Guild on the Drenden server, named Requiem.

We are always on the lookout for quality, mature, analytical players. You should be knowledgeable about your class and willing to do the proper research in order to make you exceptional at your class. You should not be ego driven, a drama-monger or a selfish player. You should not have overly thin skin, sometimes guild chat discussions can be mature. This is an adult guild; you should be able to approach jokes and slight obscenity without feeling out of place. If you need continual coddling, are a primadonna, love to cause friction, are extremely lonely and need an outlet, or are always in need of attention this is not the guild for you. We refuse to cope with people who want to continually stir up trouble or drama. We will not bow to your every whim, and certainly will not allow you to stir the drama pot.

If accepted to be a part of Requiem, you will be a representative of Requiem at all times. We do not tolerate anyone from a new recruit to an officer making an ass of themselves (and by extension Requiem) in trade chat, PUGs or in any public forum. If you act like a douchebag we will assume that you are in fact a douchebag and since we have a firm anit-douchebag policy your recruitment status will be over.

You MUST understand game mechanics like Flame Waves in Obsidium Sanctum, Void Zones in numerous instances, Enfeeble on Prince, Wrath of the Astromancer on Solarian and general do not stand in the fire moments and how each effects your play and your class. While a large percentage of our members enjoy PvP, during our raid hours we raid. Raid times are meant specifically for PvE raiding, times outside of our raid hours are used for your own personal passions.

Our Raid schedule is subject to change, but currently we raid 3 nights a week. Each raid is scheduled for three hours, on the weekend we will extend the raid time if needed. We expect our raiders to commit to the three hour block of time that is the raid night.
Server time is also Eastern Standard time:
Tuesday 10 PM server time
Thursday 10 PM server time
Sunday 9 PM server time, optional 4th hour to be added as needed.

If you are filling out an application to this guild, you are applying in order to be a raider. As such we expect that you can make the majority of raids each week.

--- Application ---
Make sure to answer all application questions fully. If your class is closed but you still feel you are an exception player, make your application exceptional to reflect that feeling. Just because your class is closed today does not disqualify you if you are an exceptional player. Our requirements may seem high for a fresh lvl 80 player, but we want players who are able to jump immediately into our progression content and can add value to the Requiem raid team.

Recruitment status "probation" lasts 30 days from the time you become a contributing member of the raid team. A recruit will be eligible to earn Karma however will NOT be eligible for loot unless full members chose not to spend karma on gear. This goes for 25 man raiding zones only.

After 30 days you are eligible to become a raider. In order for you to become a raider with Requiem you need to have proved that you have the dedication, temperament, understanding of your class and situational awareness to contribute to a progression raid. In addition, during your recruitment time we expect that you were available for at least 75% of the raids. The recruitment period is a tryout and as such you should do all you can to improve your gear and maximize your class during this time.

We are only recruiting players that intend to be raider status. Friends status recruiting is closed.

Take some time on your application. You are applying to join us and as such you should sell yourself on the application. We do not expect full best in slot gear on every applicant, but we expect that you made quality choices with the gear that was available to you. The raid team is 25 people polling their time and resources to kill new bosses, show that you can contribute to the team by doing everything you can that will benefit your raid utility (be it dps, tankage, heals or any combination thereof).

SKILL > GEAR, But those with skill will be smart enough to have gear.
Dear Applicants,

I want to dedicate this post to all of you individuals who have applied to <Requiem>, and I think I speak for all officers when I say your written masterpieces are the finest in this virtual world of dragon-slaying. I want to sincerely thank you for making recruiting immensely easier. I think everyone can learn a thing or two from the experts of application-writing.

You’re right, of course, about WWS/WMO parses being an unnecessary requirement. My apologies to you for contradicting your claims of being a good player by asking for one. If you say you’re good, I should just automatically assume you are. And if I question your rotation, the obvious answer is the the “right rotation,” because everyone knows this most basic information. You are the best at your class, which should totally be obvious by your super-special purples as displayed in your armory.

I also should know better than to ask for dps numbers. Telling me you’re always top five in your current guild’s raids gives me a clear, accurate number of what sort of player you are, since, of course, I raid with you, right? And answering my request for a rough estimate of how much dps you do with “good dps” is also an universally acceptable answer.

You’re clearly the superior individual, so please make us aware of this from the beginning of your application. Insult my guild members and myself when we ask you questions regarding questionable talent builds, rotations, and itemization. You’re totally right! Since when do you have to actually be a walking encyclopedia to join a raiding guild? It’s just a video game, and you, sir, really need to put us in our places and tell us how it is. So if anyone asks you questions you can’t or don’t feel like answering, you are in your right to just call the guild bad or accuse people of living in basements.

Guild applications also aren’t English papers, so please don’t bother spending any time making sure you’ve spelled words correctly. In fact, while you’re at it, completely ignore the concept of punctuation. Language is an ever-evolving thing, and I’m clearly the bigger idiot for not realizing this. You’re applying to a raiding guild, after all, not to participate in a spelling bee. Who cares if your application is a giant wall of text comprised of incoherent babble? I can armory you, so it doesn’t really matter if I can understand you, after all.

It is also perfectly acceptable to not answer every question on an application. It’s not your fault we don’t make our applications in an easily-understandable, multiple choice format. In fact, just skip around and answer any questions that don’t require thought. For extra bonus points, just go through and answer any open-ended questions with “yes.”

Please ignore all the stickied threads (of which this is one) that explain my guild’s raiding schedule, philosophies, expectations, and rules. You’re a pretty smart guy/gal since you’ve realized I wrote them just out of mere boredom, instead of for your benefit. In fact, after skipping over all threads, please consult me or another officer in game to ask about our schedules, recruiting needs, and progression, and preferably consult me during a raid. If you want to skip this step, just go ahead and apply but answer the “can you make our raids?” question with a written shrug or a “wat time do u raid” question of your own.

I should understand when you apply to other guilds besides mine. You’re testing the water, as you say, and you’re doing the smart thing by applying to as many guilds as possible. Feel free to stretch out the application process as long as possible, that way you can sort through which you were accepted to and rank them in order of preference. And if all those top 100 ranked guilds deny you, please get back to us as soon as possible. We totally want to be your last resort.

And last of all, who honestly cares if you put a lot of effort into your application or not? This is a video game, and if we can’t realize that, we need to go outside and see some sun, clearly. You’re not applying for an impressive job in real life, you’re applying to an internet guild with internet people killing internet bosses. We take ourselves way too seriously if we expect you to display a good attitude and a willingness to do everything you can to contribute to the overall success of your team’s progress. So instead, go join a less structured guild and cry when it falls apart, and then complain you can’t get into a good raiding guild. In fact, re-apply to us; we’ll understand!

Sincerely,
Shadowrx
